Downtown Kent’s Franklin Avenue will close for an outdoor pedestrian space this summer.
Last week, a significant community response on social media about keeping the street open for the summer season raised concerns over its status.
Wednesday’s committee council meeting was packed with almost every seat filled, with many of the attendees being local business owners.
“Our crews are ready tomorrow [Thursday, May 8],” Dave Ruller, city manager, said about closing off the street for the summer.
