It’s almost that time of year again, when tassels are tossed and degrees are awarded. It’s something everyone looks forward to. Sometimes, it’s a lot to handle. That’s why The Kent Stater has your guide to graduation this year, with the addition of a few helpful tips.
When is commencement held?
This year, commencement will be held for all degrees on the Kent Campus from May 8 to 10 and May 16.
How many guests can attend commencement per student?
Each graduate who RSVPs before commencement is allowed six guests, each with their own ticket.
How does commencement work for guests?
All guests aged 2 and older must have a ticket to enter the ceremony, and tickets will not be printed at the venue. Seating is general admission on bleachers, and ushers will be available to assist with accessible seating needs. Guests without tickets can watch a live simulcast in the Student Center Kiva.
What does parking look like?
Those who attend commencement have every lot available to them for each specific date. Handicap parking is available as well as shuttle service to and from the ceremony venue. Shuttle pickup and drop-off locations can be found on the commencement map.
When can graduates expect their actual diplomas?
Your digital diploma will be available about four to five weeks after commencement via a notification sent to your Kent State email. Follow the email link to set up your Parchment account, where you can view, download and share your diploma anytime. Paper diplomas will be mailed to your permanent address 10 to 14 days after you receive your digital diploma.
