Injury lawyer Tim Misny brought energy and excitement during his appearance at Kent State Monday night, sharing stories of his career and pieces of advice encouraging motivation.
During the two hour event, Misny offered advice, answered questions from the audience and even shared details for his upcoming film “The Misny Movie.”
Misny expanded on his thoughts of purpose and how it is reflected in the people he has worked with throughout his career. With this story comes a clear message: passion.
“Now, this guy works for the insurance company. He gets a file and says, you know, ‘Settle it for this,’ and it’s like his little song-dance and he just takes the same amount of money,” he said. “He has no passion. You talk about passion right?”
The event was held by the Undergraduate Student Government at the Kiva with a turn out of about 150 students. USG senator, Brodie Sikorski, who is the ambassador for the Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship, chose Misny as the special guest of the night.

She found her inspiration from just simply driving and catching a view of Misny’s billboards. It was that moment Sikorski found the perfect person.
“I drove past a Tim Misny billboard, and I went, ‘Wait a minute, he’s been here before.’ Why don’t I try to bring him to Kent State,” she said.
She went on to compliment Misny for his success and how established he is throughout the Cleveland area. Even with the small amount of time for planning, Sikorski was still proud of the outcome of the evening.
“He’s a businessman, his marketing, everyone in the Cleveland area knows him, and I thought it would be awesome to bring him,” she said.
Misny continued using other examples to make the message about passion clear. These included past experiences with clients and NFL legend Joe Namath’s success. He believes that having passion is the main way to win at this game of life.
“When you find passion through truth, you’re gonna have to win, you’re gonna have to complete the project, you’re gonna have to make it great,” Misny said.
Following a Q&A session, students gathered in line to snag a photo and signature with Misny. For photos, he posed with his signature eyebrow raised and “I’ll make them pay” stance.
Misny also shared some brief excitement over his upcoming movie and being able to share his story with everyone.
The film is set to be a mockumentary blending elements of his real-life with some comedic touches and will premiere this upcoming August at a local film festival held in Cleveland.
He concluded his appearance by thanking Kent State for the invitation and the line of people waiting to meet him.
“I wanna tell my story in the movie. I’m happy to be here today with you to be able to, so thank you for inviting me. Thank you for the exchanges you had. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did,” he said.
