Kent State has placed football coach Kenni Burns on administrative leave with pay, according to a university spokesperson.
The university did not provide a reason for the move, which comes a week before spring practice begins.
Greg Glaus, executive deputy athletics director, will oversee administrative responsibilities for the football program. Offensive coordinator Mark Carney will direct on-field activities at this time.
Burns is 1-23 in two seasons with the Golden Flashes. In September, a local bank sued Burns for nearly $24,000 in credit card debt.
The spokesperson said “no further comments on this personnel matter will be provided.”
