FIRST: EuroGyro
In downtown Kent, EuroGyro has been a staple for late night activity since it opened in 1989.
Steve Plotts, a manager and delivery driver at EuroGyro, said the Kent location was the second one opened after the success in Akron in 1984.
“We’ve been here for a long time, and our crew has been here for a long time, too,” Plotts said.
This hole-in-the-wall restaurant, located at 107 South Depeyster St., is open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. from Monday to Saturday, and 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. on Sundays.

“We’re open late, and we like that when all the other places close, everyone comes in here,” Plotts said. “We make sure we can get them fed so they can get back out.”
Inside the building, the walls are painted scarlet and are covered with TVs and framed sports memorabilia.
They are most known for their pizzas and gyros, but they offer a large menu to satisfy any late night cravings customers may have.
For first time customers who are unsure of what to order, Plotts recommended trying the spicy garlic chicken wings.

SECOND: Guys Pizza Co.

Located on the corner of South Water Street and West Erie Street, Guys Pizza Co. offers both carryout and delivery orders everyday, and their latest hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Owner Evan Lundberg said he wanted to open his shop in Kent because of the college atmosphere.
“I’m a Kent State graduate myself, and a Kent city school graduate,” Lundberg said.
Guys Pizza Co. offers a variety of pizzas along with calzones, chicken wings and pastas.

“We have affordable pizza ready to go by the slice,” Lundberg said. “We also have some pretty good deals for our larges and a bunch of different online specials.”
Aside from pizza, Lundberg says that the calzones, also known as “Guyzones,” are a very popular menu item. They come with a choice of toppings and a dipping sauce.
“I think in terms of bang for your buck, people enjoy them,” Lundberg said.
Third: Insomnia Cookies

Insomnia Cookies is a staple in downtown Kent for those in need of a late night sweet treat.
The bakery is open everyday, and their latest hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The menu consists of cookies, ice cream and cookie cakes. They also offer catering services for large boxes of cookies.
Michael Swingle, a manager at Insomnia, said their most popular menu item is the six pack of cookies.
“The brownies are growing in popularity, too,” Swingle said. “With the warm weather around the corner soon, the ice cream will be a big seller.”
Insomnia Cookies is located at 295 South Water St. and is close to many downtown Kent bars, making it a very popular spot to grab a late night snack after a night of activities.
