A helicopter hit a power line before crashing into Mogadore Reservoir around 7 a.m. Friday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA said only one pilot was aboard the Schweizer 269C helicopter.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was on the scene in Suffield Township and Portage County Emergency Management said recovery efforts were underway.

“The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide further updates,” the FAA said in a statement.

A press conference is scheduled for 12 p.m.
