More than 500 customers lined up outside the doors of Krazy Bins for their grand opening at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The bargain bin discount store’s newest location, located at 1430 S Water St., gives the community a cost-effective shopping experience with products for $15 or less.
The store sells overstock items from Target, including furniture, home goods, clothing, toys and more. Customers flooded the store on its first day open with shopping carts filled with sale-priced items including kitchen amenities, lego sets and furniture. The store also offered customers who were in line before 10 a.m. a giveaway entry for five $100 gift cards.
Local Portage County resident Nadine Longmire waited in line for three hours with her friends and family waiting to get the ‘krazy’ deals the community had been anticipating.
“I’m super excited for the grand opening, It’s my first time here,” Longmire said. “ I am expecting something I have never seen before, an experience I have never had. I want to see a lot of unity in the community. Shopping is fun; it is really energizing. It is something all of us girls really like to do.”
Krazy Bins offers discounts from 50-90% all week long with their cheapest deal being on Thursdays, when all products are $1. The new location in Kent offers a chance for the college community to afford name-brand products.
Quentin Rosenberger, a Kent State freshman and business major, said he tagged along with his friends to dig through bins for amenities such as an air fryer for his dorm.
“They were like ‘Oh we are going to come at like 9 a.m.,” Rosenberger said. “I didn’t feel like coming that early, but I was like oh well, it may be worth it. From the bins, I found a random Nerf gun. Probably never going to use it, but at least it will be fun. I got some hangers that will be useful in college in my dorm, an air fryer for $25 and another for $17.”
The community came together to see what the store was all about, with some mentioning the bargain bin store opening could influence the area’s economic activity.
“This store is going to add a lot of discounts to the community,” Longmire said. “A lot of economical value that we need right now, a lot of bargains we can definitely use. With everything with the store prices going up and down, it will just offer us an opportunity to give money back into the community.”
Krazy Bins is now open all week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., except Thursday when hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Restocks will take place on Friday mornings.
