On Feb. 18, Kent State students living in dormitories received an email from the University Housing department, saying that “pod-style” bathrooms will be gone, and the only restrooms in dorms will be single use bathrooms, which can be used by any gender, and “gender designation” labeled bathrooms, which is based on the primary sex assigned to the floor.
This is because of Senate Bill 104 being signed into law, which regards single sex bathroom access in primary and secondary schools and institutions of higher education in Ohio.
KSTV’s Matt Kiraly spoke with members of the University community to further explore what it means.
