With the Avian flu, also known as bird flu, on the rise among chickens, egg supplies in the nation have become limited, causing high egg prices and grocers to limit purchasing amounts.
Shoppers are not the only ones struggling with the poultry problem, local business owners have begun to consider how to respond to these issues.
Owners like Robin Turner of Rolling Scones have turned to grocers for her egg distribution. She believes bakeries, like her own, can not go without eggs as they are a staple for her treats.
While Turner and Rolling Scones have managed with their current supply, they have been experimenting with egg alternatives as a backup and allergy-friendly option.
Despite the shortage causing a temporary scramble, Turner’s goal is to keep prices affordable, and she promised to do her best to keep prices down.
