Agents from the Federal Protective Service are on campus Wednesday for K9 training exercises with the Kent State Police Department.
FPS operates under Homeland Security and is tasked with securing federal facilities. Their presence on campus is not a part of recent immigration crackdowns in the region.
FPS and KSPD cars were parked outside the old Business Administration Building, which no longer houses classes. The university uses a part of the building as a surplus store.
“Not much happens in the old business building, so it’s a good place to train when it’s cold out,” said Eric Mansfield, spokesman for the university.
