President Todd Diacon sent an email to the Kent State community Tuesday morning responding to potential state legislation and federal directives.
The United States Department of Education and Office for Civil Rights published a Dear Colleague letter outlining what race-based or national origin programs and activities could end so the university and other Ohio universities can continue to receive funding.
“How we will be allowed to care for each other is likely going to change because of impending state and federal mandates,” Diacon stated.
The email did not include which organizations will be affected by directives. However, the university will provide further information as they understand more about these directives.
In the email, Diacon said the university will remain committed to helping support students during this time period.
“What will not change is our mission of providing a safe and supportive environment for all Golden Flashes,” he said.
The university said the information in the email is all they can provide at this time.
