February is widely known for being the month of love, with heart decorations seen almost everywhere during this time.
However, those hearts represent more than just Valentine’s Day as February is also American Heart Month bringing attention to heart-related causes like CPR. The American Heart Association is making CPR more modern by sharing on their social media song ideas to use when administrating the life saving technique.
Their Director of Communications Chelsea Caldwell said these song suggestions can empower and connect with their young audience. Stow Fire and Life Safety Educator Mel Gammell added these songs to help administrators stay on beat and moderate how fast they perform it.
Songs perfect for CPR can be found on the AMA’s spotify playlisted titled “Don’t Drop the Beat.”
In addition to the songs, Kent students can download the Pulse Point app, which will notify them if someone near is in need of CPR, according to Stow Fire Captain Troy Acker.
