A lunch conversation about American figure Martin Luther King Jr. encouraged conversations between various campus departments on Wednesday.
Even when heavier social topics arose, laughter repeatedly filled the Oscar Ritchie Hall multipurpose space for over an hour and a half.
Katie Mattise, the executive director of Learning, Engagement, and Belonging, spoke to the group about the importance of these spaces.
“To really connect with one another. To see how we can support one another,” Mattise said. “Regardless of who you are or where you are coming from, life can be very hard.”
There wasn’t a break in the camaraderie after the event either. Many attendees lingered to catch up with co-workers and plan to attend the Annual MLK Celebrations this week.
