Snow is falling, and finals stress is calling. Professor and doctor Laurie Wagner, who teaches Stress Recognition and Management, advises against students immediately panicking or procrastinating but rather doing more mindful practices. Her suggestions include learning time management, doing task-orientated activities with a sense of completion, like cleaning, having a healthy screaming fit in moderation and using personalized self-care habits. In addition to Wagner’s advice, Freedom Paws held a puppy yoga event on campus this past week. Yoga professor Alicia Patrice highlights the stress-relief benefit of yoga coming through breathing practice that lowers stress levels. With all of this input, it does seem that students are embracing their inner warriors, both figuratively and yoga-wise, in their finals prep.
Our reporter Nikki Gasiewski spoke with both of these professionals and more, further exploring how students can take care of themselves during finals season.
