Bob Woodward to speak at May 4
Renowned journalist Bob Woodward will speak at Kent State on the evening of May 4, according to a University press release.
Woodward’s appearance is part of the university’s Presidential Speaker Series, which “seeks to bring high-profile, world-renowned experts to Kent State for serious, thought-provoking discussions and conversations,” according to the university’s website.
Past speakers include Dan Rather, Elie Wiesel, Nicholas Kristof, Sheryl WuDunn, Trey Ratcliff and Ken Burns.
Woodward is currently the associate editor at the Washington Post, where he has worked since 1971. He also contributed to two Pulitzer Prize-winning stories on Watergate and 9/11.
He is also the author of 13 books, including “All the President’s Men” and “The Final Days.”
Woodward will “reflect on his experiences as an investigative journalist while providing insight on the world events during the 1970s,” according to the university’s website.
The event is free and open to the public, but a ticket is required for admission. For more information, visit www.kent.edu/president/speakerseries.
This year marks the 49th anniversary of May 4, when Ohio National Guardsmen fired into a crowd of demonstrators protesting the Vietnam War, killing four and wounding nine others.
