The Kent State football team dropped its first game of the season and 10th game in a row, carrying over from last season.
The Flashes lost 55-24 on the road against the University of Pittsburgh Saturday – KSU scored 24 or more points three times last season.
The Flashes will drop to 0-1 on the season, while the Panthers start their season off on the right foot with a 1-0 record.
Redshirt sophomore quarterback Devin Kargman started for the Flashes and threw for 181 and two touchdowns while throwing an interception on 14-28 passing.
Redshirt senior running back Ky Thomas had a hard time on the ground against Pitt, as he ran for 40 yards on 18 attempts (2.9 yards per carry).
Kargman found redshirt sophomore wide receiver Chrishon McCray and graduate student wide receiver Luke Floriea for touchdowns during the game. Floriea hauled in six catches for a career-high 104 yards.
Pitt more than doubled up the Flashes in total yards, as Pitt had 554 yards while the Flashes had 220.
KSU could only muster up 39 yards in the running game, while the Panthers had 191 rushing yards.
Kent State’s next game will be its home opener at Dix Stadium at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against Saint Francis University.
