No. 29 Kent State’s women’s golf team finished in seventh place out of 16 teams at the Wolverine Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

The tournament was hosted by No. 22 University of Michigan and played at the U-M Golf Course in Ann Arbor.

This was the Flashes first tournament under the leadership of first year head coach Casey VanDamme. 

The team shot 300 in the first round and 284 in the second round ending Monday’s round of competition in sixth place.

Kent finished the tournament 29-over-par 881. Michigan was the only team to finish under par and won the tournament.

Senior Emily Price shot 8-over-par 221 and finished tied for 29th place, freshman Jennifer Gu shot 9-over-par 222 and finished tied for 33rd place, sophomore Mayka Hoogeboom shot 10-over-par 223 and finished tied for 40th place, fifth year Chloe Salort shot 13-over-par 226 tied for 47th place and junior Valentina Albertazzi shot 13-over-par 226 tied for 47th place.

Competing as an individual for the Flashes, junior Noramol Nuchsila carded 23-over-par 236 and tied for 74th place. 

Kent’s next tournament is the Mercedes Benz Women’s Collegiate Championship hosted by the University of Tennessee on Sept. 20-21 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
