Hot water leaked down two of the eight floors of Beall Hall Monday.
Water went into five rooms and the main entry of the building, according to Emily Vincent, director of University Media Relations, due to a plumbing valve solder joint failing and breaking free. A valve joint is used to assist in the regulation of water. This caused heating water from a room’s heating unit to leak.
“Maintenance technicians immediately responded and fixed the problem,” Vincent said in an email Monday. “Custodial staff are helping with the cleanup.”
In an email Tuesday, Vincent said the water was “quickly isolated” and some drywall and paint in the main entry were damaged.
This is an updating story.
