The City of Kent sparkled bright Saturday as the community celebrated its annual Festival of Lights downtown on Dec. 2.
Santa and Mrs. Claus counted down the seconds until the downtown area became lit up for the first time this holiday season. Some of the festivities included a hot chocolate bar, horse and carriage rides and a chance to see Santa.
The Festival of Lights attracted many community members, as South Water Street was packed full of parents, kids and college students.
Sophomore geology major Leo Olson found himself walking around the festival with some friends.
“I had no idea what was going on, one of my friends suggested we go tonight,” said Olson. “I’m happy I did as I was reminded of the holiday festival that my hometown does every year. It feels nice to walk around and feel like a kid again, along with looking at the lights.”
