Kent State student athletes completed almost 5,000 hours of community service this past year.

The Flashes placed 18th nationally out of 100 institutions that participated in the initiative. Volleyball led all sports with 753 hours throughout the year.

Kent State associate student athlete development director Katie Schilling explained that she is very proud of the students for the countless hours that they put in.

This year NCAA athletes in all three divisions recorded more than 474,000 service hours and they also generated $12 million in economic impact for local communities.
