Kent State plans to invite new presidents to serve as grand marshal
Kent State intends to start a tradition of asking its new president to serve as grand marshal at their first homecoming, said Emily Vincent, director of university media relations.
“We believe this will be a new tradition of inviting the new president to serve as grand marshal at their first Homecoming,” Vincent said.
The university announced in early September that President Todd Diacon will serve as grand marshal for 2019 Homecoming. Vincent said the homecoming committee discussed selecting a grand marshal at a committee meeting.
“The group was in favor of inviting President Todd Diacon to serve as this year’s homecoming grand marshal,” Vincent said.
Previous grand marshals include wide receivers Julian Edelman and Josh Cribbs and news anchor Wayne Dawson.
The homecoming parade will step off at the corner of Midway and Main Street at 10 a.m. on Saturday Sept. 21. Homecoming festivities will end with the Golden Flashes facing the Bowling Green Falcons.
